Verona-Cedar Grove Chorus Spring Vacation Bible School Time-Travels to Ancient Rome for a Week with St. Paul!
For its seventh annual Vacation Bible School, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is “time traveling” again to ROME.  During the week of July 6 – 10, from 4:30 to 7pm children will learn about St. Paul and the first Christians in ancient Rome. Participants aged 3-11 years old will don togas and learn about the underground church and St. Paul who shares his story while imprisoned with his Roman guard for the crime of preaching the Gospel. Children will be immersed in ancient culture as they hear Bible stories, learn about Roman customs, learn what it was like to worship in secret in a catacomb like the first Christians, sing songs, do crafts, share dinner, and all the while, have a great time. Vacation Bible School is open to all children, not just those who come to Holy Spirit, so please spread the word!

Like to help behind the scenes or “in Rome”? We are looking for volunteers to participate. Teens are always welcome, too. There’s sure to be an area to put your talents to good use! We’ll be having clay working, basket weaving, and playing games as they did in Ancient Rome. We also need people to help with cooking and serving daily dinner to the early Christians, after they’ve worked up an appetite.

If you’d like your children to attend, registration forms are available at the church or simply call (973)239-2850. The cost is $45 per child for the week, or $15 each day. Family discounts are also available. And if you’d like to make a donation to offset the cost of our journey to Rome, that’s welcome, too!

The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit is a Christ-centered church that welcomes and includes all people; worships and learns as a community; encourages individual growth and participation; and shares its gifts with others. My Verona Blog

Chance favors the prepared mind

Louis Pasteur never had a PC or a hard drive, but I would agree with his quote. A 500GB disk failed on my PC. I had some clues: for the past week every now and then the PC would lock up for a minute. Now I know it was my hard drive desperately trying to find it's way, until this morning it could not. Where just 8 hours earlier it was working ok. Hmm....

Verona's New Environmental Guide
The Verona Environmental Commission has developed a new Web site to help Verona residents live cleaner and greener. On it, you'll find information on keeping our air and water sources free of pollution, as well as climate change and drought. There are articles about the health risks in vehicle idling, getting better gas mileage, and the proper disposal of medications and medical waste. We also created a Kids & Environment section to help children better understand their world.

The Environmental Commission's goal was to create a Web site with subject matter to help Verona residents to go green without spending too much money. There is also a “Feedback” section for comments and suggestions. Please visit and let us know what you think of the new Web site.

The Verona Environmental Commission meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at the Verona Community Center. Our website may be reached through the Township web site www.veronanj.org  or directly using www.veronaec.org.
